Growth of GDP should not be treated as development, says Nitish

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said what many developmental economists have been saying since long: that the growth of GDP should not be treated as development.

Talking to reporters in Patna on the sidelines of Janata Darbar he said development should be such that everybody should benefit out of it. Only gross domestic product (GDP) cannot be the scale of development. It may be an indicator of the development.

Nitish said the model of development in Bihar was development with justice and it can be considered development when the living standard of the people sitting on the last bench of the society raises and there is a sentiment of satisfaction among all.
