Modi asked the girl’s relative, who accompanied her, to narrate the whole story. They belong to Englishpur village under Shahpur block of Bhojpur district.
Her relative narrated that there were three accused in the rape, which took place on May 11 last, but only one has been arrested. He said the Investigating Officer rejected the case on the plea that it was not a gangrape but an outcome of a love affair. “Even the superintendent of police (SP) does not believe us,” he said.

The deputy chief minister rang up Bhojpur SP M R Naik and told him about the presence of the girl in Janata Durbar. “If a girl says she has been gangraped, I don’t think you need any clarification,” he added.
According to the victim three persons were involved in the gang-rape. While the first accused, Manish Choudhary, has been arrested Chotu Prasad alias Niraj Prasad and Musa Prasad alias Dhiraj Prasad, sons of Mitthu Prasad alias Rajendra Prasad, have not been arrested.

The girl said that she, along with her grandmother, went to the police station around 5 pm on May 11. “The police kept us waiting for the whole night after lodging the case. Next morning, when we went to our village along with the police, the accused were found absconding.”

Meanwhile, while talking to the media Modi rejected the allegation of the member of the National Commission for Women that there is a jungle raj in Bihar. Regarding rise in incidents of rapes and gang-rapes he said that in the past too such crimes use to take place in the state, but now the victims are coming forward to complain. Earlier the victims were ashamed of coming to the police.
