Bihar JD(U) MLA survives landmine blast

Patna,(BiharTimes): Sheikhpura MLA Randhi Kumar Soni had a miraculous escape when the car in which he was travelling blew up after it ran over a landmine. He was going to Muradpur village from Sheikhpura.

Interestingly, police ruled out Maoists’ hand and attribute it to the criminal gangs quite active in the region. After talks with MLA the police suspected the hands of notorious criminal, Ashok Mahto, who has been in jail since 2008.

Senior administrative and police officials reached the spot. Finger-print squad has been pressed into service. The situation is tense in the district.

Soni survived similar attacks in 2001 and 2004. Both he and Mahto were earlier close to each other. However, they fell apart and Mahto got arrested. Ever since then the relationship between the two has got strained.

Interestingly, no FIR has been lodged.

The landmine blast has sent shock waves in the police and administrative circles as normally Maoists, and not criminal gangs, used to have mastery over its technology.
