Patna,(BiharTimes): When the opposition parties, especially the Bharatiya Janata Party, are baying for the blood of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, why is Bihar chief minister, Nitish Kumar, not speaking anything on the Coalgate scam. Even the BJP leaders of Bihar and other ministerial colleagues not speaking anything on the issue. | Nitish does not miss any opportunity to criticize the UPA government. He has always been charging it with ignoring Bihar, but in the last one week he has spoken the least on the issue of allocation of coal blocks.
Some critics are of the view that it has something to do with the recent Janata Dal (United)-Congress bonhomie. They cite the example of slightly soft stand taken by the JD(U) in Lok Sabha on the issue. The party is not in favour of disrupting Parliament in the manner the BJP is doing.

But political observers are of the view that morally the Nitish government is not in position to use the CAG report as a weapon to attack the Manmohan Singh government.

Successive CAG reports have strongly been indicting the Nitish government, whether it is related to gross irregularities in BIADA land allotment, AC-DC Bills, Kosi relief and rehabilitation works etc. As in the case of allocation of coal blocks the BIADA land was distributed without any open bidding. Not only that, it was distributed to many close relatives of senior ministers and top bureaucrats of the state.

Though the state government has repeatedly been making tall claims about its so-called crusade against corruption, the truth is that one scam after another is coming out in the state. Hundreds of crores, may be even much more, have been looted in the name of distribution of bicycles and uniforms to school-children, removal of uterus, MNREGA, to name a few.
