Thousands of women take to streets of Patna following rise in crime

Patna,(BiharTimes): Thousands of women took to streets of Patna on Thursday to protest against the non-stop rise in crime against girls and women in Patna and other places of Bihar.

Women who participated in the Chetawani March, as it was named, accused the state government machinery of protecting the perpetrators.

They alleged that two main accused of the infamous teenaged gang-rape case of Patna has not been arrested yet because of right political connection.

Only last week a girl committed suicide in Sitamarhi after repeated sexual harassment. Another girl of Begusarai district has threatened to end her life after the medical report said that no gangrape has been committed.

In the last few weeks reports of gang-rapes have come from Nalanda, Gaya, Bhagalpur and many other places in the state.

Only on Wednesday five girls accused a professor of Commerce College of molesting them.

The marching women were stopped at the Dak Bungalow roundabout.
