Bihar blames NHAI for poor condition of National Highways

Patna,(BiharTimes): The road construction department minister, Nand Kishore Yadav, on Monday blamed the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for not responding to the repeated request of the state government to repair some of the National Highways, which urgently needed repair.

He said the state government had informed the NHAI about the repair work of NH-56/69 from Begusarai Jail to Rahimpur in Khagaria via Balia and Sahebpur Kamal on July 22 last year. The concerned NHAI contractor has also been communicated about it but till date no progress has been made.

Nand Kishore also said that NHAI is not making regular monitoring of the NHs in the state.

Participating in the debate Tanvir Hasan of RJD said the condition of NH on this stretch is deplorable and needs immediate repair. Thousands of heavy vehicles ply daily on this route.

The minister while replying to another question of Sanjay Prasad said the government has also informed the NHAI to remove high speed breakers on Patna-Mokama NH stretch till Rajendra bridge.
