So far six lakh radios distributed among Mahadalits in Bihar, claims minister

Patna,(BiharTimes): Though RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav is repeatedly charging the state government with distributing duplicate and substandard transistors to the poor Mahadalits of Bihar, the SC/ST Welfare minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Tuesday informed the Assembly that the state government had so far distributed about six lakh radio sets among this section of the society.

According to him the government has set a target to distribute 21 lakh radio sets among Mahadalits by 2014.

Replying to a question by Manjit Kumar Singh of Janata Dal (United) the minister said radio distribution was being carried out district-wise. The government has chosen two brands–– Phillips and Santosh.

The scheme was launched by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar under the Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission on February 25 this year.

Nitish had then said that radios would make this section aware of popular government schemes.
