RJD continues protest over ‘Rs 6,000 crore MNREGA scam’

Patna,(BiharTimes): The opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal MLAs and MLCs staged strong protest in both Houses of the Bihar Assembly on Tuesday demanding a CBI inquiry into the alleged Rs 6,000 crore MNREGA scam. The protest forced the speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary to adjourn the House first till 12:30 PM and then till lunch. After lunch it was again adjourned till 4:30 PM.

RJD members led by Leader of Opposition, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, trooped into the well of the Assembly shouting slogans demanding a CBI probe into the scam.

Siddiqui also said he was contemplating moving a breach of privilege motion against Rural Works minister Nitish Mishra for making uncharitable remarks about his son on Monday.

However, on behalf of Nitish Mishra, who was absent Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav apologised before Siddiqui.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was present in the House.

In the post-lunch session the RJD members persisted with their demand for a CBI probe and raised slogans against the state government. The Speaker made repeated plea to sit down and allow the business of the house, but the RJD members shouted slogans for nearly 15 minutes before staging a walk out. Amidst the din he adjourned the house till 4:30 PM.

The House re-assembled again and passed the second supplementary budget of Rs 3,386.15 crore and supplementary demands for various other departments.
