35 school children taken ill after having Mid-Day Meal in Jehanabad

 

Patna,(BiharTimes): At least 35 school children taken ill after having food under the Mid-Day Meal scheme in a school at Tilkai village under Makhdoompur block of Jehanabad district on Thursday.

The District Education Officer (DEO) Ghayasuddin said the school children complained of stomach cramps and started vomiting soon after taking food which comprised of rice, pulse and vegetables in the Tilkai secondary school. They were taken to the referral hospital at Makhdoompur.

After the incident anxious parents rushed to the school and held the Principal and the Block Education Officer (BEO) hostage.

The Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Ramniranjan Singh and other local officials rushed to the spot and rescued the Principal and the BEO.

The ailing children have now recovered and a probe ordered into the matter.

Reports said tgat security has been beefed at the school and referral hospital.
