Nitish taking ‘revenge’ from Narendra Modi

Patna,(BiharTimes): Nitish loyalists are working overtime to plant stories in the media to justify the silence of chief minister after the victory of Narendra Modi in Gujarat.

Like on Friday, on Saturday too Janata Dal (United) leaders were heard telling various mediapersons that Nitish Kumar had not congratulated Narendra Modi as the latter did not do the same when the Nitish-led NDA won 206 out of 243 seats in Nov 2010 Assembly election in Bihar.

So Nitish is doing the same now. But the BJP leaders are upset over the chief minister’s behaviour.

State BJP chief Dr C P Thakur wondered why Nitish did not make the customary gesture of congratulating, which is common in public life.

Modi’s supporter and state Animal Husbandry Minister Giriraj Singh said it is a routine practice that even a defeated candidate congratulates the winner in an election.

On Modi not congratulating Nitish BJP leaders said how could have he done so when the Bihar chief minister was repeatedly humiliating him. Only five months before Nov 2010 election Nitish abruptly cancelled the dinner to the BJP bigwigs and returned Rs five crore the Gujarat government donated for Kosi flood of 2008. After all Nitish should understand that he is largely surviving on the support of the BJP, they said.
