Nitish demands Delhi’s help to run Common Service Centres

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar government has urged the Centre to consider linking the Right to Public Service Act (RTPS) with e-Governance under centrally-sponsored schemes, and grant assistance to the States to provide basic services to the people under this provision.

Launching the Common Service Centres run by the Vasudha centres on Friday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the Centre should provide financial assistance to States to run the Common Service Centres where the RTPS is in force, so that people can easily get public utility services.

He described e-Governance as the way to root out corruption from public service and added that the IT driven governance would improve the quality of life of people by making the delivery system more transparent.

The chief minister said the Centre should also provide subsidy for setting up Vasudha centres to popularise the RTPS among the masses. The Central subsidy should be made available for up to 10 years to those people or agencies running the Vasudha centres, which provide utility services to the people at low cost.

Nitish said the state government has proposed to set up Vasudha centres at all  panchayats to enable the people to get 52 utility services at their doorsteps.
