Not even 10 per cent of Urban Development fund spent in 10 months in Bihar

Patna,(BiharTimes): Though the Urban Development department of Bihar was allotted Rs 1009 crore in the current financial year, yet in the first 10 months only Rs 79 crores has been spent.

Special provisions were made in 2011-12 budget to develop roads and drainages, especially of Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Purnea and Muzaffarpur. But the condition of these towns had hardly changed as more than 90 per cent amount remained unutilized.

However, the Urban Development Minister Prem Kumar assured that the entire amount would be spent in the next two months.

Early this week reports appeared in a section of media which stated as to how Rs 600 crore was spent in a week time by the Food and Consumers Protection Department of the state. In that way the Urban Development Department too may be able to spent 90 per cent in the rest two months.

Meanwhile, the state Congress chief, Chaudhary Mehboob Ali Qaisear and RJD chief Ramchandra Purvey, warned of the coming March loot in which the entire amount would be spent in less than a month time.
