Six Bihar Administrative Service officers dismissed

Patna,(BiharTimes): The state cabinet on Tuesday decided to dismiss six Bihar Administrative Service (BAS) officials for their involvement in financial irregularities in Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) in Araria district way back in 2004-05.
Those who are to be sacked are Ashok Kumar
Tiwary, Ramesh Jha, Gayanand Yadav, Surendra Roy, Mohammad Pervezullah and Mohammad
Shamim Akhtar.

Another BAS officer, Ram Niranjan Chaudhary, has already been dismissed, while Rajesh Kumar Gupta is continuing in job after obtaining a stay order from the Patna High Court.
 
Two IAS officials are also involved in this case. Departmental proceeding has already been started against the then Araria DDC, Valmiki Prasad, while sanction for administrative action against the then
Araria DM, Amrendra Narayan Singh, has also been given in this case. Both of them have retired from service.
 
They all have been charged with keeping the Indira Awaas Yojana fund in the accounts of Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) in utter violation of financial rules and other financial irregularities on a large scale in the IAY during their tenure in different blocks of Araria district in the fiscal year 2004-05.
 
The cabinet also sanctioned a grant of Rs five crore for constructing the building of Chandragupta National Law University and Rs 3.25 crore for acquiring land for the Nalanda Open University
in Nalanda district. At present it is running from BISCOMAUN building.
 
It also okayed a proposal to increase the advance grant period for the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS).Earlier, advance grant was allowed for only two months. This period has now been increased by one month, that is, three months.
 
The cabinet sanctioned funds for construction of five roads sponsored by Asian Development Bank (ADB) and NABARD.These two-lane roads are Baruna Bridge-Rasiyari on State Highway-88, Runnisaidpur-Bhiswa on SH-87, Saraiya-Motipur on SH 86, Bagi-Barbigha on SH-83 (all ADB sponsored) and the NABARD-sponsored Bhabua-Sahar Road
