14 found guilty in Khagaria massacre case of Oct 2, 2009

 

Patna,(BiharTimes): Additional District and Sessions judge, Khagaria, C B Dwivedi on Wednesday convicted 14 people and acquitted an equal number of them in October 2, 2009 Amausi carnage case in the district. Sixteen people were killed in the massacre.

 

The Court found 14 of the named accused guilty of involvement in the carnage and acquitted rest 14 for the want of sufficient evidence. It fixed February 14 as the date to announce the quantum of sentence to those convicted in the case.

While 14 of these farmers killed belonged to Kurmi caste the other two were Koeris. They were shot dead by suspected Maoists at Amausi village in the wee hours of October 2, 2009. Land dispute between Dalits and the farmers was said to be the reason behind the carnage.
