Banks are not conspiring against Bihar: SEBI Chief

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Chairman of the Security Exchange Board of India U K Sinha on Sunday rejected the repeated allegations of the state government that banks were conspiring against Bihar on the issue of improving its Credit Deposit Ratio (CDR).

Addressing the Global Summit on Sunday he said there is a misconception prevailing in Bihar that banks are conspiring against the state with respect to improving the CDR. This is not true. People should throw this misconceptions out of their mind. Contrary to this the truth is that banks are eager to give loans in Bihar.

The SEBI Chairman, who is originally from Bihar, said that Public Private Partnership (PPP) is the best tested medium for improving CDR as it increases the flow of funds.

He called for more development in health and education sectors.

Referring to good human resouces he said two-thirds of the state’s population are less than 25 years old, and can thus play an an important role in improving the GSDP of Bihar.

He said there was great need for technical education for youths and promotion of their skills. PPP could come in handy to facilitate their skill development. The government should, however, play the role of the regulator for the purpose to help prepare youth labour power in Bihar.

He said small and medium sector industries hold the key to development of Bihar.
