RJD seeks CBI probe into big rise in minister’s assets

Patna,(BiharTimes): Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal and Lok Janshakti Party have questioned the sudden and whopping rise in the income of the immediate relatives like spouses, sons and daughters of the ministers in the Nitish cabinet and legislators of Janata Dal (United) and BJP.
The RJD leader Ram Kripal Yadav has demanded the CBI probe into it.

They asked as to how is it that the family members of the ministers with no known sources of income are getting much more richer than the ministers and legislators. Even the chief minister Nitish Kumar’s son has become much more richer in one year. Similar is the case with the wife of deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who is at least in job. The party asked as to what is the income of Nitish’s son when he is nowhere gainfully employed.
Leader of opposition in Bihar Assembly Abdul Bari Siddiqui said the declaration of most of the ministers indicated that the income and assets of their spouses were more than theirs. The assets and income of unemployed kin of several ministers had also shown “unnatural growth”.
The ministers and MLAs/MLCs have declared their assets by the end of December 31, 2011. However, more than 40 per cent of the legislators are yet to declare their assets though the deadline had expired. Many of them are senior leaders of the ruling NDA and opposition parties.
Political observers are of the view that the ministers and legislators declared their assets in the name of their relatives because they can not keep them benami for too long.
Take the case of health minister, Ashwini Kumar Choubey. According to the opposition, till a few years back, he used to live in rented house. Now he is an owner of a couple of houses in Patna.
Observers cite the example of former chief minister Rabri Devi’s income which came to rescue of Lalu Yadav’s income during the fodder scam case related to the disproportionate asset.
According to deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi’s bank account details, he had Rs 10 lakh-plus amount in his name under different heads in 2010. The figures have improved by about 40 per cent and he, at present, has Rs 14 lakh in different banks.
The bank account of water resources department minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary has jumped from Rs 1.83 lakh in 2010 to Rs 9.11 lakh now.
Energy minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav has developed an interest in investing money in mutual funds and shares in just last one year. He had zero investment under this head till 2010 even though he has been a minister since 2005. In the last one year he has invested Rs 4.99 lakh in mutual funds.
Transport minister Brishen Patel has become poorer by Rs one lakh. He had Rs 5 lakh cash in hand in 2010 which has now shrunk to Rs four lakh.
Ashwini Kumar Choubey’s net worth has gone up from Rs 41 lakh to Rs 59 lakh. His wife, Neeta Choubey, too is doing quite well and her net worth has gone from Rs 53 lakh to Rs 75 lakh in one year.
HRD Minister P K Shahi had around Rs 70 lakh in different banks in 2010. The figure went up to Rs 90 lakh in 2011.
Social welfare minister Parveen Amanullah was owner of 700gm gold jewellery in 2010. This year she has 830gm gold jewellery.
Believe it or not art and culture minister Sukhda Pandey’s account had a little over Rs 7,000 in 2010. The current balance stands at Rs 7.5 lakh, more than 100 time jump in just a year.
Tourism minister Sunil Kumar Pintu had Rs 2.14 lakh cash in 2010. The figure has increased to Rs 5 lakh now.

news report of assets declarations made by ministers seems to question the sudden increase of wealth of ministers. mr. editor, you should know, it comes naturally with sushasan. after all, if the minister would not enhance their deposits in banks, how the banks would survive after so many thefts and robberies taking place almost every week? where would the money go which comes of mid day meal, cycle and dress schemes? what is the use of the money given to the cotractors of different construction works and transport mafia? after fifteen years of hard work don't they deserve to deposit for the next fifteen years? cbi inquiry or any any inquiry would do notghing till they enjoy the grand majority. they have been selected to what they find best for them? what is your grudge? you seem to be envious of their money, you should better join them and live a mantri! learn something from people who are common to both 'jungle raj' and 'sushasan'. they earned in the last fifteen years and they would earn for the next fifteern years. koi court kya kar lega? if you are a novice you can start with giving license for pouched daru.
