Bank manager, peon abducted from West Champaran

Patna,(BiharTimes): No trace has been made about the branch manager and peon of a regional rural bank, who have reportedly been abducted by criminals from Bagaha in West Champaran on Tuesday.
North Bihar Gramin Bank Valmikinagar branch manager Uttam Chandra Choudhary and peon Raja Ram Prasad were on way to Bettiah on Tuesday. However, they did not reach there.

Superintendent of Police, Bagaha, now suspect that the two might have been abducted for ransom, though the family members are yet to receive any call for payment.

Family members are concerned about Choudhary’s heath as he underwent a kidney transplant in 2003, and is under regular medication. It is feared that without medicine his health may deteriorate.

According to his wife Bhagwati Devi, he accompanied with the peon, was scheduled to go to Bettiah on January 3. However, before leaving for Bettiah he did not contact. The next afternoon, residents of Kataya village found Choudhary’s motorbike. Laukaria police station was informed about it.

Bagaha Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar Singh, said raids are on to recover him.

Reports from Bagaha said that some criminals like Rajendra Choudhary, Harihar Choudhary, Rambhu Choudhary, Chuman Yadav etc are quite active in Valmikinagar, Laukaria, Govardhana, Chiutaha, Semra and Gobarahiya areas of West Champaran district. They have been collecting levy from traders and bus-inessmen.

On December 27 the Circle Inspector of Baunsi block of Banka district was abducted and was rescued from the jungle on the border with Jharkhand after a week.
