MACET students develop compressed air engine

Patna,(BiharTimes): A group of final year Mechanical Engineering students of Maulana Azad College of Engineering and Technology (MACET), Patna has developed a compressed air engine.

According to a Press release Mohammad Jawed Ali, Shahid Rahmani, Mohammad Kamaluddin and Sabih Shahid, under the guidance of Prof Syed Shahbaz Anjum, developed this engine.

The concept behind this project is to show that compressed gas is capable of doing work. A compressed air vehicle is powered by an air engine using compressed air which is stored in a cylinder. Instead of burning of petrol/diesel in the engine to drive the pistons, compressed vehicle uses the expansion of compressed air to drive their piston.

This engine has several advantages. Besides, being pollution-free, it will reduce the cost of vehicle and make it safe and its maintenance will be easy and simple. The idea can be explored further and implemented in modern vehicles.
