Ward councillor’s kin injured in exchange of fire on Patna street

Patna,(BiharTimes): In a brazen incident near Rajapur Pul (Bridge) near West Boring Canal Road in Patna on Monday two groups openly exchanged fire leading to the injury of one person, Ashutosh Kumar, brother-in-law (Dewar) of Prabha Devi, the local ward councillor.

According to eye-witnesses and police the real target was Prabha Devi herself but since she ducked two bullets hit the stomach of Ashutosh. Once again land dispute is said to be the main cause behind the free for all on Patna’s street.

When Prabha Devi, along with her relatives came to the spot to get a shop evicted some persons came on a four-wheeler and opened fire on her. This caused pandemonium and retaliatory firing. People started running helter and skelter.

Soon the angry mob assembled on the spot and set ablaze three vehicles, including a bus and also pelted stones on passers by.

Situation is tense and massive hunt is on to nab those involved in the incident. DSP Law and Order is camping on the spot.

Ashutosh has been rushed to Patna medical college and hospital (PMCH).

Prabha Devi later told mediapersons that she was talking with local residents near Boring Road in Rajapur area, when four miscreants in a Sumo fired at her.

It is alleged that S K Puri Police took a long time in reaching the spot. According to the city superintendent of police Kim the matter is being investigated.
Some other reports suggest that the dewar wanted to build apartments on the vacated land.

Of late Patna has witnessed several disputes between builders and local people over the construction of apartments.
