Pioneer Assistant Editor attacked by BJP leader’s son

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Assistant Editor of The Pioneer, a national daily, Amarnath Tiwari, received multiple injuries when some persons, led by the son of a local BJP leader Madhu Verma, attacked him in his Charminar Apartments near Telephone Exchange in Rajendra Nagar Colony in Patna on Friday.

Police said he was attacked with sticks and rods by three to four persons when he was pouring water on plants and flowers on the lawn of the apartment where he lives.

Tiwari was soon rushed to a nearby nursing home. The police suspected that he was attacked following differences among the office-bearers of the association of the Apartments.

An FIR was registered by Kadamkuan police station in this connection.

However, according to Tiwari a majority of the flat-owners are against the present office-bearers and want the secretary be replaced. A local BJP leader who too lives in the Apartments and was close to the office-bearers came to attack one of those who is opposed to the present set-up. “I immediately rushed to save him from the attackers. It is upon this that I was targeted,” he told BiharTimes.

Meanwhile, several politicians, including state Food and Consumer affairs Minister Shyam Rajak, Bihar Youth Congress president Lalan Kumar, former MP Ranjita Ranjan and Congress legislature party leader in the state assembly Sadanand Singh condemned the incident and called for security to him and his family
