C P Thakur calls for stir against Nitish govt

Patna,(BiharTimes): In another significant move the Bihar BJP president, Dr C P Thakur, has asked the workers of his party to launch an agitation against the state government if genuine public demands are not met.

Addressing party workers at Kudra in Bhabua on Sunday he said public interest was paramount for the BJP. “You have to work to help the people and stand with them in facing the adversities. It is only this way that the BJP can be strengthened and get respect from the masses,” the state chief said.

When a group of workers claimed that they, as members of the coalition partners in the state government, were facing humiliation from farmers for the government not providing minimum support price of paddy and wheat Dr Thakur said that they should follow the non violent path of agitation for genuine demands of farmers.

He said the state government should raise an effective infrastructure for the marketing of agriculture and horticulture produces so that the cultivators are benefited. This is the way to make Bihar prosperous, he added.

Party workers complained that the state government officials are not giving them due weightage though they are members of the party that is a part of ruling coalition.

Dr Thakur denied that his visit had anything to do with Akhil Bharatiya Rashtrawadi Kisan Sanghathan’s national president Indu Bhushan Singh’s ongoing Sampark Yatra, which was launched from Kaimur earlier this month.

The selection of Kudra as the venue for the district level workers meet was widely seen as an exercise for minimizing the anger of farmers, especially after the killing of Ranvir Sena chief, Brahmeshwar Singh alias Mukhiaji.
