Attempt on life of jailer of Beur Jail

Patna,(BiharTimes): An attempt was made on the life of jailer of Beur Central in Patna, Amarjeet Singh, on Friday. The incident occurred just outside the gate of the Jail. While the jailer and his bodyguard survived a boy standing nearby was slightly hurt in the firing.

According to police some miscreants opened fire on the jailer and managed to escape. Interestingly, the police station is not far away from the spot yet no body was arrested.

Amarjeet Singh of Beur Jail was fired at when he was returning to his residence near the prison. "They tried to kill me but they missed," Singh said.

Singh told IANS that a notorious gangster or criminals lodged in the jail may be behind the shooting.

"After I raided the cell of some gangsters including Bindu Singh and recovered mobile phones, some inmates warned me to be careful," he said.

Dozens of mobile phones have been recovered from prisoners in the last few months.
