Two PACS chairmen killed in Bihar

Patna,(BiharTimes): Two Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society chairmen were killed at two different places in Bihar within 12 hours of each other.

Reports from Motihari said that a group of armed criminals shot dead Prem Nath Pandey, PACS chairman of Babhnauli Panchayat under Govindganj police station in East Champaran distict on Saturday morning.

Another PACS chairman, Mahesh Singh, was killed after unidentified criminals fired at him near Jamalpur railway crossing in Bihpur police station area of Bhagalpur district on Friday night.

According to Areraj (East Champaran) DSP, Alok Kumar, sixty-five year old Pandey was taking morning walk at Babhnauli when the criminals gunned him down. He said Pandey’s family members had accused four co-villagers, including Munna Pandey, a notorious criminals of the locality of killing him. He said old family feud was stated to be the reason behind the killing.

The DSP said Pandey escaped a bid on his life alleged by Munna a year ago. Family members said the PACS chairman had sought protection from Areraj police after receiving threat from criminals.

Alok Kumar said Munna had recently fled from custody of Govindganj police.
