Graft case: 11 charge sheeted in Jharkhand

Ranchi, June 2 (IANS) The CBI Saturday filed a charge sheet in a court here against a former Bihar minister and 10 others in a case related to road construction in the mid-1990s in undivided Bihar.

The charge sheet was filed in a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court where the trial was shifted after Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar in 2000.

The charge sheet named former Bihar road and construction minister Iliyas Hussain, officials of the department and suppliers.

The case is related to alleged financial lapses of Rs.28 lakh in purchase of bitumen in 1994-1995 in Hazaribagh district. The case was handed over to the CBI in 1997.

There were initially 18 accused in the case. Four accused have died, two have turned CBI approvers and one could not appear in court.
