Case filed against Bihar minister for calling Ranvir Sena chief as Gandhian

Patna,(BiharTimes): A social activist of Bhagalpur has filed complaint case against Bihar’s minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Giriraj Singh for calling slain Ranvir Sena chief Brahmeshwar Singh alias Mukhiyaji as a Gandhian.

Mukesh Kumar, a leader of Bihar Nav Nirman Manch, filed the complaint case in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate R P Malviya in Bhagalpur on Friday against the Minister under several sections of the IPC. The CJM admitted the case and fixed June 22 for it next hearing.

In the case, the petitioner objected to the minister allegedly praising Ranvir Sena chief as a Gandhian leader and wondered as to how a person, who founded a private militia of an upper caste and was an accused in over 200 murder cases, could be equated with the “Father of Nation”.Griraj Singh has repeatedly claimed that slain Ranvir Sena chief was a Gandhian thinker and a farmer leader, who had faith in peace and social harmony. On Saturday he reiterated the same view and said that he was prepared to face any consequences.

Giriraj, who is a senior BJP leader, said that Mukhiyaji had dedicated his entire life to the betterment of the lives of the farmers and labourers. He always worked for peace and harmony in society.
On the other hand the Rashtriya Janata Dal has taken strong exception to the minister’s remarks. The party chief Lalu Yadav said that the remarks smacked of votebank politics and that the Nitish government was shedding crocodile tears after Mukhiyaji’s killing.

RJD MP Ramkripal Yadav criticized Giriraj for praising someone who is accused of 287 cases of murder.Countering RJD’s stand Giriraj Singh, said that it was the then RJD government that had implicated Mukhiyaji in false cases of massacres and turned his image to that of a murderer.

The Manch’s move to file case against the slain Ranvir Sena chief had complicated the politics of the state. In a way it justified the action taken by the then RJD government against Mukhiyaji.

Not only that while Giriraj Singh called him a Gandhian the name of two Janata Dal (United) legislators, Hulas Pandey and his notorious brother Sunil Pandey figured prominently in the latest killing. Incidentally, they too belonged to the Bhumihar caste and were associated to Ranvir Sena. That was the one reason why the ire was directed towards the state government machinery on June 1 and 2 violence in Ara and Patna.
