Patna,(BiharTimes): Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on
Wednesday said that Bihar government would never agree to the Centre’s decision to set up Central University of Bihar in Gaya.
         | In a letter to the Union Minister of Human Resources Development, Kapil Sibal, he criticized his recent decision to set up the Central University of Bihar in Gaya instead of Motihari. Such a move would be “a blow to people’s sentiment in Bihar.”
The letter said that there was no need to set up the Central University in Gaya because Magadh University, campus-wise largest varsity in Bihar, was already functioning there.

Nitish said that if Centre wanted to set up the Central University, then it should accept the state government’s proposal for setting it up in Motihari, the headquarters of East Champaran district, from where Mahatma Gandhi launched his movement against indigo planters.

The state government was ready to make available land to the Centre free of cost for the purpose. The chief minister further said the state was capable to set up a
university on its own and it did not require resources from any quarter.

The state government received the letter from the Centre on Feb 15 stating that Gaya has been selected for the purpose of opening the CUB.
The Centre has repeatedly been stating that it is not for or against Motihari. The problem with Motihari is that it does not fulfil the criteria laid down by the Centre for the creation of CUB in 14 states in the country. The Centre repeatedly said that it is the state government which is making it a political issue. The land allotted in Motihari is waterlogged, besides, it lacked infrastructure and linkages. A central team had already visited the spot identified by the state government and rejected it.

The Union Ministry of Human Resources had already stated earlier that if the state government did not provide land it would purchase it on its own to set up the CUB at suitable place.
Sources said that the Centre already has land in Gaya following the shifting of the Army Service Corps to Bangalore. But it is also true that the Army has set up Officers’ Training Academy in its place.

The state government had in the past already forced the Centre to change its decision to open the off campus branch of the AMU from Katihar to Kishanganj.

Academics in Bihar squarely blame the Nitish Kumar government for politicizing the issue for no rhyme or reason. “The objective of Central University is different. What is wrong if it is is set up in Gaya, which has road, rail and air linkages and is not situated in the flood-prone area. By Nitish Kumar’s logic there should be no IIT in Patna as it already has NIT, Maulana Azad College of Engineering and Technology and Patna Institute of Technology. If Mahatma Gandhi launched his movement in Champaran Mahatma Buddha is associated with Gaya,” said one of them.

Sources said that the state government is in a bind as several real estate dealers have purchased land in the vicinity of the proposed site for CUB in Motihari. Now they are feeling let down.

Nitish Kumar has totally failed in education front and also adamant person. If central Govt. is funding projects of central university it has right to select a place of its choice. So why Motihari and why not Gaya, a truely international city. On the other hands Nitish Govt. says centre is not helping Bihar ? Till date what happened to Nalanda Intl. University, still not opened ? Nitish must reply to the people of Bihar. In place of Bihar the university has its office in Delhi why not in Patna ? Nitish must reply as to who is selected as VC    also. Same adamancy in case of IIT in bihar. and no one would like to forget the method of selection of teachers in bihar schools ? The centrally funded Model schools (perhaps more than 500) situation is also not taking shape only due to Nitish adamancy. Acutally Nitish always thinks central govt funds will help UPA as votes to UPA. Such mean thinking of a CM like person. on the other hands he shows to the people that central govt is doing nothing for bihar. I am really ashmed of Nitish thinking. Actually Nitish is on the way of Lalu Ji in education front. Nothing doing. I am really annoyed. Gangadhar prasad==============
Nitish Kumar : I would never agree...! So what if Gaya has the most advanced airport in the state to support the timely arrival and departure of national and international faculties next to the proposed site for CUB, I would never agree. So what if Gaya is the land of international interest for Bodhist, Islamic and Vedic knowledge seekers worldwide, I would never agree. So what if the proposed site chosen by the centre is well equipped with roads, sanitation and greeneries for the peaceful educational activities, i would never agree. So what if hundreds of thousands of potential students are brimming with hope at the centre's decision and are least interested in hearing my platitudes, I would never agree. So what if the parents of Bihar are longing to change the future of their wards through substantial education and Central university in Bihar is their most awaited dream, I would never agree. So what if the proposed plan is cancelled due to cheap political and financial clash of interest, I would never agree.
Now this is when you see the real color of a tyrant and resisting his evil empire painted good by the media becomes obligatory for a common man.
Arshad Mohsin Kuwait ......................................................... If Central Government want to build CUB  then anywhere in Bihar should complete as soon as possible. I really upset  by read this news because between the EGO of Nitish Kumar & Kapil sibal  who will suffer?? The Student of Bihar.  If student of Bihar can go in PUNE ,Bangalore or any village of Maharashtra, Karnataka then also Can go within any part of Bihar.  Why Nitish Kumar always think about vote bank profit loss on every Project. In other state ( like Gujarat, Maharashtra) every CM try to implement ASAP Central Project OR maximum utilization of Central Fund. In Bihar always delay on Every Project. In News Chief minister further said “the state was capable to set up auniversity on its own and it did not require resources from any quarter.”
Then I will Request to Nitish Kumar please setup a State University in Motihari & allocate Land In Gaya for Central University. Alok Ray |
