Nitish urges Montek to continue special assistance to Bihar

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday called on Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia at Yojana Bhawan in New Delhi. The meeting was dubbed as a courtesy call. He submitted a memorandum on issues concerning Bihar.

Nitish urged Montek to continue the Special Assistance to Bihar under Backward Regions Grant Fund (BRGF) during 12th Five Year Plan too. This assistance has proved very useful in covering infrastructure gaps in power, road communication and irrigation. He suggested that Union government and the state government may identify major infrastructure schemes for implementation to meet the infrastructure needs of the State.


The Chief Minister also apprised the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission that keeping in view that eastern India is considered the destination for second Green Revolution in the country, his government has prepared a roadmap for holistic agricultural development with an objective to bring Rainbow Revolution in discussion with experts, farmers and publicrepresentatives. He requested support of the Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission for higher central allocation in Agricultural sector.
