PNB branch manager gunned down near Patna

Patna,(BiharTimes): Motorcycle-borne criminals shot dead the manager of Bharathpura branch of Punjab National Bank, Phanendra Shekhar Sinha (40), at Katari village under the Bikram police station in Patna district on Monday night.

According to SSP, Patna, Alok Kumar the manager, a resident of Police Colony, Anisabad in Patna used to go to his office daily at Bharatpura on his motorcycle. He said that on Monday evening at around 6.45 pm, he left the bank at Bharatpura along with his peon Vijay Kumar.

Quoting the peon, the SSP said Sinha was travelling on the Naubatpur-Dulhin Bazaar link road and reached Katari around 12 km from Bharatpura. As the duo reached Katari, two criminals riding a motorcycle dashed their bike against manager’s and stopped some distance ahead. One of them then opened fire at the bank manager killing him on the spot. The assailants then sped away from there.

The SSP further said that Sinha had recently a dispute over loan advancement with someone. This might be one of the reasons behind his killing. The police are investigating the case from various angles

The SSP and SP (Rural), Patna, Manoj Kumar and local police reached the spot on receiving information about the incident.
