JD(U) supporter’s house set on fire at Ballia village in UP

Patna,(BiharTimes): The house of a Janata Dal (United) supporter was set on fire in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh on Holi day on Thursday. Reports from the district headquarters of Ballia, bordering Bihar, said that the incident took place at Bhojchapara village in Reoti area.

Political rivalry is said to be the cause of the incident. Police suspect the hands of some Samajwadi Party supporters in the incident. The house belonged to Ram Pravesh Bind. The attackers also beat his wife Shiv Kumari and his two sons Pintu and Anil and their wives before fleeing from the spot. Bind is an Extremely Backward Caste of Bihar and UP. An FIR has been lodged against 10 people in the matter. However, no arrest has so far been made in this connection.

This is the first case of Janata Dal (United) worker being targeted in the post-poll violence in UP. It came as a surprise too because the party is not a force to reckon with in Uttar Pradesh.
