Three suspended following derailment of Rajdhani engine

Patna,(BiharTimes): The engine driver, assistant driver and loco inspector of the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express have been suspended following the derailment of its locomotive near Lohia Nagar level crossing near Begusarai station on the Barauni-Katihar section under the Sonepur division of East Central Railway (ECR). The accident took place at about 5:00 AM on Sunday.

None of the passengers was injured as the coaches didnot jump off the track because the train was moving at slow speed.

According to a senior official the train was moving at a slow speed when the incident took place as it was arriving on loop line. The train driver mistook red signal as yellow and continued to run the train at slow speed.

The official told BiharTimes that the derailment took place as the points were not properly set for the incoming train.

The train left for Delhi at 7 AM. Traffic movement on the Barauni-Katihar route remained paralysed for about two hours.
