Nitish rules out mid-term poll, reiterates demand of CUB in Motihari

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday ruled out mid-term Lok Sabha poll in the country. Talking to the mediapersons in Patna after returning from New Delhi he said that it is true that the Congress had become weak after the recent elections yet there is no chance of the UPA government collapsing in the near future.

It will survive by hook or by crook. However, Nitish said that his party is ready for any snap poll and said that Janata Dal (United) would remain a part of the NDA. Reiterating his demand of Central University of Bihar in Motihari the chief minister urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to consider the state government’s plea seriously as, according to him, the sentiment of people of Bihar is attached to it. Both the Houses of the state Assembly have passed a resolution in this regard, he said and alleged that Kapil Sibal is trying to divide the people of Bihar.

He said he had not yet received the letter of Union Minister of Human Resources Development, Kapil Sibal, yet he had not said anything new. His letter smacks of arrogance. Nitish went to New Delhi on Sunday to attend the marriage ceremony of the fifth daughter of RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Meanwhile, in a surprise development the Congress Legislature Party leader, Sadanand Singh, has thrown his weight behind the state government on the issue of CUB. He criticized Kapil Sibal for objecting to the state government’s demand to have CUB in Motihari.Sadanand’s statement came as a surprise to many Congressmen, especially of Magadh division, who are of the view that constitutionally the Centre has every right to open any Central University anywhere in the state or country. How can a state government stop it from doing? asked one of them. Party leaders said that Sadanand’s behaviour would be taken up at the higher level.
