Bihar government seeks action against Go Air, writes to DGCA

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar government has sought action against Go Air, a private airline, for its refusal to take ailing Janata Dal (United) MLA, Damodar Singh, to Delhi on Feb 14.

It has written a letter to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) seeking action against the private carrier for refusal to take the MLA on its flight to New Delhi for treatment last month.

Two of its employees were even arrested after a case was lodged by the relative of the MLA in this regard. However, they were later released.

Incidentally, the father of one of the employees arrested in this connection is himself a Janata Dal (United) leader. He strongly criticized the action of the relative and police to arrest the two employees, who were performing their duty. He later said that his son was well within his right as the MLA arrived late.
However, on Monday while replying to a question by the JD(U) MLA Manjit Kumar in the state Assembly, the Water Resources Department (WRD) Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said that the state government had written a letter to the DGCA for action against the private carrier for its refusal to take the ailing JD(U) MLA.

The minister said that though an FIR was lodged against three Go Air employees under various provisions, the state government decided to pursue the matter with the DGCA for taking appropriate action against it.

On Manjit Kumar’s supplementary question whether the state government proposal to take his Call Attention Motion as a 'suo motu' privilege motion against the Go Air, the Minister said that the member was entitled to bring the privilege motion against the carrier.

Intervening in the matter, the Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary said that he would look into the matter.
