Patna, March 22 (IANS) Maoists in Bihar blew up a railway track, torched two mobile phone towers, one tractor and four other vehicles during their two-day strike to protest arrest of top Maoists leaders, police said Thursday.

A group of armed Maoists attacked Narganju railway station in Jamui, 200 kms from here, Wednesday night and threatened to blast it, but later triggered blast at the railway track near the station that disrupted train services for hours.

"The train services have been resumed Thursday morning after repair," a district police official said.

In a separate incident, over 50 armed Maoists set afire two mobile phone towers and a tractor in Jamui district. While in neighbouring Banka district, 150 kms from here, armed Maoists torched four vehicles and warned people in several villages to support their strike or face consequences.

The government has tightened security in view of the Maoists violence and alerted police to keep close watch.

"A fresh combing operation has been launched to check Maoists activities," an official of the state home department said.
