Nitish flays opposition for raising I-T raids issue in Assembly

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that he was ready to face any acid test following Income Tax raids on his close aide and treasurer of Janata Dal (United) Vinay Kumar Sinha.

Speaking in the debate on the Budgetary Demands of the state home department in the state Assembly on Tuesday, Nitish said it is unfortunate that the issue has been raised in the House against a man who is not a member of the Assembly. The opposition in the state Assembly is not justified in raising the issue. He added that he was ready for facing any acid test on the issue.

The Income Tax sleuths had early last week seized unaccounted cash worth around Rs five crore and papers of 51 flats in Patna from the establishment of Sinha, a former MLC of the party. It is in his house that Nitish used to live before becoming the chief minister of Bihar.

He clarified that the state home department and police department had nothing to do with the raids.

Despite the opposition demand he said he did not need to clarify his position.
