Patna,(BiharTimes): An inter-ministerial group constituted by the Centre to look into Bihar’s demand for special status has said that the state cannot make such claim as it does not fulfil three basic parameters required for conferring this status. The group’s report rather says that there is a requirement of doling special grant to the state which is lagging behind on development front. | On March 25 last Bihar’s chief secretary, Navin Kumar, along with senior officials of the state were invited to New Delhi to put forth their views before this group. In her subsequent reply which Sudha Pillai, who heads the group, submitted to the Planning Commission, stated that Bihar however needs to be allocated a special grant for upgrading its basic infrastructure so that it could get a place in the group of developed states of the nation. While the Janata Dal (United) criticized the report the opposition parties blamed Nitish Kumar for this failure. They alleged that the issue was not put up properly and that the state government had lost its moral right to get any special status as there is rampant loot and corruption in the state.   comments... |
