Narendra Modi, not Nitish Kumar woos Bihari in Gujarat

Patna,(BiharTimes): For a change it was not Nitish Kumar but Narendra Modi who addressed Bihari on the occasion of Bihar Diwas celebration in Surat on Sunday. In fact Nitish was not even invited by Bihar Samaj of Surat, the organization which organized the function.

Unlike other Bihar Diwas functions organized in Patna, Delhi and Mumbai this was all-BJP affair with the state health minister, Ashwini Choubey, very much on the dais. He went to project Narendra Modi and not Nitish Kumar as the prime ministerial candidate on that occasion.

Without taking the name of anyone Choubey said people from his state were accepted in Gujarat and allowed to grow here but some states opposed them.

“Gujarat has given us the strength to take our state to a new level of development,” he said.

Narendra Modi, on his part, said that the image of Bihar has to be “restored” and its glory “re-established”.

He said image of Bihar has taken a beating in spite of state’s contribution for development of the country, he said adding that Bihar is a state which has produced Gautam Buddha, Mahavir, Ashoka the Great etc. Now it is required to change its image and re-establish the glory of Bihar.

Incidentally, Modi addressed Biharis in his state a day after his famous handshake with Nitish Kumar in New Delhi on Saturday.

Besides, Assembly election is due in Gujarat later this year.
