IITians rue collapse of school system in rural Bihar

 

Patna,(BiharTimes): The IITians For Youth, an organization of students belonging to IIT Kharagpur, on Thursday regretted that there is complete lack of teachers and infrastructure in high schools in Bihar, especially those in the four Maoists-infested districts of southern half.

 

 

Talking to media-persons after visiting  the interior blocks of Gaya district, they said that there is no facility whatsoever for boys and girls to get education, not to speak of quality education.

Speaking on the behalf of the team one of the students, Imbesat Ahmed, who is himself a third year student, said there was no dissemination of quality education in rural schools to enable the students to excel in studies. The team interacted with the local students and gave them counselling about education and career.

Imbesat said that though the state government has upgraded several secondary schools into high schools, there was an acute shortage of teachers and more so good teachers to teach students of Classes-IX and X. IIT students interacted with the parents and found that they wanted to provide good education to their children and in the absence of good education in the schools they were forced to send their wards to coaching institutes.

 

During their tour to the villages the IITians provided tips to the students. The IITians for Youth have undertaken a 20-day Yatra to rural Bihar. The tour started on May 5.
