Luxury bus service to Kushinagar, Gorakhpur flagged off

Patna,(BiharTimes): Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Sunday flagged off the first luxury bus service from Patna to Gorakhpur from Buddha Smriti Park here.

The bus will run on the PPP mode. Bihar State Tourist Development Corporation (BSTDC) has outsourced it to Hyderabad-based Gaurav Bus Service.

The 55-seat AC Volvo bus service from Patna to Gorakhpur will run on Buddhist Circuit via Vaishali, Kesariya and Kushinagar in the first phase.

Tourism minister Sunil Kumar Pintu was also present on the occasion.

Though the inaugural function took place at around 10 am from Monday onward it will start off from Patna at 7.30am and return at around 9.30 pm the same night. BSTDC has made arrangements with a roadside dhaba near Gopalganj for providing lunch to the passengers.

According to BSTDC DGM Navin Kumar the to and fro fare on this route would be Rs 900, excluding lunch. The travellers would be provided mineral water free of cost.

BSTDC is also planning to introduce a regular Buddhist circuit bus from Raxaul, which is located at the Nepal border. This will help the Buddhists coming from Nepal.

New luxury buses would also be launched soon for places like Nalanda, Rajgir, Bodh Gaya, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Bettiah, Lauria, Nandangarh, Valmiki Nagar, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Kawar Lake in Begusarai, Jainagar, Kishanganj, Sasaram, Bhagalpur and Kolkata.

Though the luxury bus service will help the tourists a lot, common passengers of the state said that the fare it too high for them.
