RJD MPs absence from national executive raises questions

Patna,(BiharTimes): While addressing the RJD’s national executive in Patna on Monday the party chief Lalu Yadav proclaimed that the NDA in Bihar is on the verge of break up as the infighting within has intensified.

But what he left unsaid is as to why the rest three of his own party MPs did not attend the national executive of the party held in a Patna hotel.

Apart from Lalu Yadav, the other three MPs of RJD are Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Jagdanand Singh and Umashankar Singh. Incidentally, all three are Rajputs.

Umashankar’s absence is understandable as he has been maintaining distance from the party even since Prabunath Singh joined the party on August 7, 2010. Both have the running battle of supremacy over the Rajput leadership in Siwan-Chapra-Maharajganj belt of Bihar.

But the absence of Jagdanand Singh and Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, the two trusted lieutenants of Lalu, suggests that they are either unhappy with the leadership or do not give much importance to such national executive.

This notwithstanding the fact that Lalu is now trying to rejuvenate the party rank and file which has been facing demoralization for the last about seven years.

The RJD chief himself tried to play down their absence but the answer was not satisfactory. Raghuvansh was in Mumbai while Uma Shankar Singh in  Dehra Dun. However, while talking to mediapersons over phone sources close to the three absent MPs tried to explain that there is no differences whatsoever and they were away for personal reasons.

But what raises doubt is that these three MPs were absent from a party workers meeting held in Patna a few weeks back too. In that meet leader of opposition in the state Assembly, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, and Prabhunath Singh warned the leadership to beware of sycophants.

Lalu’s failure to come out of the family––for example, he got Rabri Devi elected to the Council reently––has dismayed many in the party.
