C P Thakur flays Narendra Modi for remarks on Tharoor’s wife

Patna,(BiharTimes): The president of the Bihar unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, Dr C P Thakur, on Wednesday criticized Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his remarks on the wife of Union minister of state, Shashi Tharoor.

Talking to reporters the new-found friend of Gujarat Chief Minister sought a ban on use of derogatory words or filthy language by politicians in the public. This would restore public confidence in politics and in their leaders.

He said he disapproved of what Narendra Modi said about Tharoor’s wife and added that the Gujarat Chief Minister should have refrained from using such language.

Modi had in a public speech in Shimla a few days back called Tharoor’s wife, Sunanda Pushkar, a Rs 50-crore girl-friend. This created a storm in the political circle and in private many BJP leaders too disapproved of it.

The Congress general secretary, Digvijaya Singh, countered it by asking about the marital status of Modi. He asked Modi to clarify his position on his marriage, which took place in 1968.

Dr Thakur urged the politician to refrain from using vulgar language against rivals to elevate the profession of politics and status of people in public life.
