Mahadalit woman set ablaze as she refuses to part Indira Awas money

Patna,(BiharTimes): A day before chief minister Nitish Kumar was to visit Gaya came the news of burning to death of a Mahadalit woman by three men simply because she refused to pay them the money she got under centrally-sponsored Indira Awas Yojana.


According to police 35-years old Uttuk Manjhi, wife of a daily wage earner Barho Majhi, was beaten up by three men before they set her on fire after she refused to part with the money received for construction of her house under 'Indira Awas Yojana. The incident took place
on Sunday night.

Uttuk sustained severe burn injuries and was rushed to the Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital where she died later on.

A named FIR was lodged by the victim’s father Sahdev Manjhi against the three men. Police raids are on to nab them.
