Jackie Shroff to lead ‘Bitiya Bachao Andolan’

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff is to lead ‘Bitiya Bachao Andolan’, (Save the girl child movement), a campaign against female foeticide launched by the Bihar government in May last year.

Shroff, who met Health Minister Ashwini Choubey on Sunday, promised to create awareness among people to fight the social menace.

The Bihar government had launched the ‘Bitiya Bachao Andolan’ after taking inspiration from Aamir Khan’s serial ‘Satyamev Jayate’.

The minister said involvement of a cine-star like Jackie Shroff would popularise the scheme. He said killing of girl child was a crime and should be stopped forthwith.

Choubey regretted that while people worship Goddess Durga, the girl child in many cases was being killed in the mother’s womb.
