CM not satisfied with utilization of funds

Patna,(BiharTimes): Following reports of slow spending by many state government departments Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday asked the bureaucracy to step up utilization of funds against the plan size of Rs 28,000 crores for 2012-13 fiscal and monitor progress in execution of projects to ensure quality of works.

Nitish, who was presiding over a review meeting of the Principal Secretaries and Secretaries of various departments on status of funds earmarked for plan head in 2012-13, expressed dissatisfaction with poor utilization of funds in the first four months of this fiscal against the ratio of plan size.

BiharTimes last month did a story as to how many departments are way behind in spending. A couple of them are yet to start spending.

The chief minister said the officials should ensure that the funds allocated for development works under the plan head gets utilized in a time-bound manner. They should also monitor progress of development schemes and ensure quality of works. He said he would review the expenditure under plan head in December again.

The Principal Secretary (Planning and Development) Vijay Prakash briefed the Chief Minister about details of expenditure against the plan head and other achievements.
