Patna, Sep 24 (IANS) Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar Monday said Bihar needs more help from the central government instead of a special category status for state.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been consistently demanding a special category status for Bihar.

 | Meira Kumar, Congress MP from Bihar, who arrived in Patna on a three-day visit to the state, refused to support Nitish Kumar's demand.
"There is a need for more and more help to Bihar," Meera Kumar said when asked about her stand on Nitish Kumar's demand for a special category status.

The statement by Meira Kumar, who is the daughter of veteran Dalit leader late Jagjivan Ram of Bihar, is a setback for Nitish Kumar.

Last week Nitish Kumar launched Adhikar Yatra (march for rights) from Bettiah in West Champaran district for mobilising support of the people for a special category status for Bihar.
