Ruckus in Bihar Assembly over CAG report

Patna(BiharTimes):  Assembly and Council Wednesday saw bedlam with opposition members demanding  a CBI probe into the CAG report on alleged irregularities in Abstract Contingency (AC) and Detailed Contingency (DC) bills by the state government.

Leader of Opposition Abdul Bari Siddiqui raised the issue soon after the Assembly proceedings began and accused the state government of committing "scam" of Rs 18,797.90 crore in AC/DC bills, demanding a CBI probe into it.

Siddiqui urged the speaker of the assembly Uday Narayan Chaudhary to admit an adjournment motion to discuss the alleged irregularities.

Speaker , however, didn’t allow the motion, prompting opposition MLAs to troop into the Well of the House.

The pandemonium created by the Opposition  MLAs prevented the House from taking up any business for about half an hour. The House also witnessed sharp exchange of words between the treasury and opposition members and ruling party members prevented Siddiqui from speaking on the issue.

Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi later clarified that  DC bills amounting to only Rs 5,451 crore remained to be adjusted till April 1, 2013. He also mentioned that Patna High Court  has rejected a case in this regard while a similar case is pending before the Supreme Court.
