Case lodged against Sharad Yadav for submitting forged documents to EC, violating party constitution

Shivraj SinghPatna,(BiharTimes): The Janata Dal (United) is heading for yet another crisis with one of its Secretaries, Shivraj Singh, filing a case against his own party chief Sharad Yadav for submitting forged documents to the Election Commission of India, a constitutional body.

Not only that he had also alleged that Sharad  cannot become the president of the party for the third time as there is no provision in party’s constitution in this regard.

Singh elaborated while talking to BT that - Party’s own constitution which specifically states in article viii sub clause (3)  “ No party office bearer shall be eligible to hold the same office for third consecutive term”

Making the issue public Shivraj Singh said the party had not amended its constitution to make Sharad its national president for the third time last week.

Shivraj has also lodged a case in Vasant Kunj police station in New Delhi on Thursday (April 18) against Sharad accusing him of forgery. He said that last time when Sharad became the party president in 2010 he had prepared two lists of party office-bearers. While he sent one to the media he submitted quite a different one to the Election Commission. He has done so to manipulate in the future.

According to the documents available to BiharTimes the list submitted to the Election Commission then had said that K C Tyagi is the Secretary general of the party while Arun Kumar Srivastava, Jawed Raza and Chandra Raj Singhvi are its General Secretaries.
Afaque Ahmed Khan and Virendra Singh Bidhuri are the National Secretaries while Shashi Bhushan Saurabh is the Treasurer.

But the name announced to the media later said that while K C Tyagi is the Secretary General, Shivanand Tiwary is the General Secretary-cum-Spokesman.

The other General Secretaries are Ramendra Kumar Ravi, Shyam Rajak, Bhim Singh, Ghulam Rasool Balyawi, Arun Kumar Srivastava, Jawed Raza, Chandra Raj Singhvi.

On the other hand Afaque Ahmed Khan, Virendra Singh Vidori, Shivraj Singh and Rajiv Jaiswal are its Secretaries and Shashi Bhushan Saurabh is the Treasurer.

In that way Shivanand Tiwary, Shyam Rajak, Bhim Singh etc are not the General Secretaries. What is strange is that while Janata Dal (United) is essentially a Bihar-based party there is hardly any national office-bearers from the state whose name has been submitted to the Election Commission of India.

Only a couple of months back Shivraj Singh openly called on the Janata Dal ((United) not to oppose Narendra Modi’s prime ministerial candidate. He had then asked as to why had Nitish not resigned from the Vajpayee cabinet if he is so much opposed to the Gujarat chief minister.
