Nitish asks Mahadalits to remain united

Patna,(BiharTimes): Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday urged Mahadalits to remain united and be aware of any move to divide them.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the two-day workshop of Mahadalit Cell of Janata Dal (United) in Rajgir he said that the state government is providing land and house under Indira Awas Yojana as it had been noticed, that lakhs of Mahadalits families do not have land to make their own homes.

He said that after identifying the Mahadalits from among the Dalit sub-castes, the state government is making all-out effort to bring them into the mainstream of society.

He asked them to understand the importance of their vote and it should not be wasted.

Without taking anyone’s name the chief minister said since he had united the society and made it a powerful force, some people want to take revenge from him and create disunity. The Mahadalits have to remain alert and united and ensure not a single vote is wasted.

Reiterating what he said to Extremely Backward Castes a day earlier he said Lok Sabha elections are round the corner and they should be ready to ensure that no one from the community is weaned away by others.

He said till now people used to do politics in the name of Mahadalits but the NDA government for the first time took steps to bring them into mainstream through various welfare schemes.

State JD (U) chief Vashishth Narayan Singh, state president of the Mahadalit Cell of the party, Ratnesh Sada, party MP, R C P Singh, ministers including Ramai Ram, Jitan Manjhi, Shyam Rajak and a host of leaders were also present on the occasion.
Nitish also visited the construction site of the police academy in Rajgir. He instructed the officials to speed up the work so that it could be started soon. Though the construction work was scheduled to be completed by this financial year, yet so far only 25 per cent of the work has been done.
