Road blockade in protest against abduction of MLA’s PS

Patna,(BiharTimes): A large number of people staged blockade on the Purnia-Rupauli road in Purnia district on Thursday in protest against the failure of the police to recover the personal secretary of Rupauli JD (U) MLA, Bima Bharati.

Santosh Mandal was reportedly abducted while he was returning to his home on his motorcycle from the MLA’s house at Bhitta under Akbarpur police station to his native village, Lalganj, under Rupauli police station at around 11:45 PM on Tuesday.

Santosh is the son of Lalganj mukhiya Rekha Devi.

Reports from Purnia said Bima Bharti’s estranged husband, Awadhesh Mandal, a don, and one of his accomplices have been arrested in this connection. However, they were not produced before the court till Thursday.

Meanwhile, Gudiya, the second wife of Awadhesh Mandal, confirmed to local media that the police had taken him away from their newly-constructed house around 6 AM on Wednesday. She said they had a house warming function on April 22 (Monday), and were together in the new house at Bhitta since then. She also accused Bima Bharati and her musclemen of forcibly barging into her new house and thrashing her staff.

On the other hand Bima said she had conveyed the issue of abduction to the chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday. The CM has given necessary instruction to Purnia DIG and SP, present at the meeting addressed by CM in Patna on that very day.
