Universities get interim VCs after SC order

 


Patna,(BiharTimes): Following the Supreme Court order the new Governor-cum-Chancellor of Universities of Bihar D Y Patil on Friday issued notifications for the appointment of interim vice-chancellors and pro-vice-chancellors for all the 10 universities in the state. 

The Supreme Court on April 23 allowed the Governor to appoint interim vice-chancellors (VCs) and pro-vice-chancellors of state universities, reversing its previous decision against the appointments made by Patil’s predecessor Devanand Konwar. The new VCs are a mix of academics and bureaucrats. 
According to the notification issued by Raj Bhavan, Arun Kumar Sinha, a senior statistics teacher and Patna Science College principal, would be the interim vice-chancellor of Patna University. Former acting vice-chancellor Sudipto Adhikari, now Geography teacher at the University, would be the pro-vice-chancellor. 

Ravi Verma, a History teacher, and Professor of Psychology Rajendra Mishra would be interim VC and pro-VC respectively of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur. 

Professor of Mathematics S N Dubey would be the interim VC of JP University, Chhapra; D D Sharma, a Hindi teacher, would be the interim pro-vice-chancellor. Upendra Jha, professor of Vedas, would be the interim VC of Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University; Ram Chandra Jha, Professor of Vyakaran (Grammar), would serve as pro-VC. 

R N Mishra, Zoology Professor, has been made the interim VC and Jai Prakash Narayan Jha, teacher of History, the interim pro-vice chancellor of Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University, Madhepura. 

N K Verma, Psychology Professor, has been appointed interim VC and Chemistry teacher N K Sinha interim pro-VC of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur. 

In Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara, Sri Ram Singh, a Mathematics teacher, would be the new interim VC, while Economics Professor Pratap Narayan Singh would be the new interim pro-VC. 

Patil has asked regional commissioners to be temporary vice-chancellors of Magadh University, Nalanda Open University and Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University. 

Patna divisional commissioner E L S N Bala Prasad would take charge as VC of both Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University and Nalanda Open University. English teacher Syed Jalil Ahmad and Munindra Kumar have been made the interim pro-VC of the Persian university and Nalanda Open University, respectively.

Magadh division commissioner R K Khandelwal is the new VC of Magadh University while University Professor of Botany, Dr Nandji Kumar, is the new pro-VC.
