Ninety per cent anganwadi centres in Bihar are without building: Report

Patna,(BiharTimes): A report of the women and child development committee of Bihar Assembly has found that 90 per cent of the anganwadi centres have no building, toilet for children and arrangement for safe drinking water. Besides, most of the centres were running without anganwadi sevikas.

According to the report Bihar has 91,677 anganwadi centres and only 8,178 have their own buildings.
Headed by JD (U) MLA from Khagaria Poonam Devi Yadav the report was tabled in the House on Thursday.


It said most of the centres have no proper kitchen for food preparation and the centres, which have the arrangement, are completely unhygienic.


The report has recommended social audit of the working of these centres and assurance of clean uniforms for children and hygienic food in the centres.


It said that block to district level officers should be held responsible for the lapses in the management of anganwadi centres.
